Inspired by Butter Baked Goods’ famous Dunbar bar, these squares bring together buttery oats, toasted coconut, pecans, and a ribbon of dulce de leche. They feel nostalgic and indulgent, the kind of bake that makes any kitchen feel like a neighbourhood bakery.

Searing the Beef

Allow the bars to cool fully before cutting to keep the layers intact.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days, or refrigerate for up to 10.
For a twist, swap the pecans for almonds or drizzle the top with melted dark chocolate once cooled.
These bars freeze beautifully; wrap individually for quick snacks or giftable treats.

A take on Butter Baked Goods’ beloved Dunbar bar, these buttery oat and coconut squares hide a ribbon of dulce de leche beneath a golden crumble. Named for the bakery’s home on Dunbar Street, this version captures the same warmth and indulgence, baked until golden, chewy, and impossible to resist.

I’ll preface this by saying I’m not a chef — just someone who loves to cook and needed a place to gather and share the recipes that have shaped my kitchen.

From the classics that are always on rotation to the discoveries I’ve stumbled upon along the way, you’ll find them here. Each recipe is shared in its original form, with Anthology’s Notes added at the end to reflect the tweaks and touches that suit our table.

Over the years I’ve tried to make many recipes my own, so you’ll also see those variations woven in.

Basically: cook, taste, adjust, and repeat.
